比の利用

Ratios
比
- A ratio is a comparison of two quantities by division.
  比とはわり算によるふたつの量の比較のこと。
- The ratio of A to B can be written A∶B or A/B, where B≠0.
  A の B に対する比は A∶B または A/B （B≠0) と書く。
- Ratios that have the same value are called equivalent ratios.
  同じ値をもつ比を等価の比(当量比)とよぶ。
Rates and Unit Rates
率・単位率
- A rate is a ratio that compares two quantities measured in different units.
  率とは異なる単位で測られるふたつの量を比較した比のこと。
- A unit rate compares a quantity to one unit of another quantity.
  単位率は、ある量ともう一方の１単位の量を比較したもの。

Proportions
比例式
- A statement that shows two ratios are equivalent is called a proportion.
  ふたつの比が等価であることを示す記述を比例式とよぶ。
- In the proportion a/b=c/d, the products ad and bc are called cross products.
  a/b=c/dの比例式で、積adとbcをcross積(外項の積と内項の積)とよぶ。
- Cross Product Property: The cross product of a proportion are equal.
  cross積の性質：比例式のcross積は等しい。

✅rate {起こる}率；基準値当り金額(割合)、率；速度

ratioが「比」。
rateは「比」の一種で、たいてい1単位当りの量として使います。

日本語にすると、ratioはそのまま「比」・「比率」。
rateは「率」や「〇〇当り△△」になることが多いです。

実用での使い分けの目安は次の通りです。

食料自給率（food self-sufficiency rate / ratio）は両方とも使われています。
グーグル検索のヒット数もほぼ半々。
国産と輸入の比較の観点ならRatio。
全食事の内で国産でまかなわれた割合の観点ならRate。
